From technology to ecosystem: what comes next
The TWA Informer

Signals from the Source
Starting with the outcome
One example we've been watching is CTN, whose approach to recovery fits particularly well with this month's conversation.
Its Recovery Studio brings whole-body cryotherapy, red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen and muscle stimulation together within one recovery environment.
Here in the UK, CTN technology is also being used within RNR Restore & Recharge, where programmes are built around areas such as sleep, performance and recovery.
What interests us is how this changes the conversation with the guest.
Instead of starting with "Which treatment would you like?", we can start somewhere much more useful:
"How would you like to feel?"
From there, the experience can be built around the person and the outcome rather than around a piece of equipment.
A Wider Shift
We're seeing the same thinking appearing in different forms across touchless wellness.
Human Regenerator, for example, uses a non-contact whole-body environment that can be experienced independently or incorporated into a wider wellness routine.
It's another small example of the shift we're watching. Not every technology needs to be the hero treatment. Increasingly, the question is where each modality belongs within the overall journey.
When the ecosystem becomes the experience
Wildhive Callow Hall in Derbyshire gives us a great example of what this can look like in hospitality, and it's a project particularly close to the TWA.
TWA Founder Erin Lee consulted on the development of the wellbeing concept, which brings together thermal experiences, red light, touchless sound and sensory beds, traditional treatments, movement and nature within the Coach House.
What we like about it is that no single modality is trying to be the whole story. The experience comes from how the different elements work together around the guest.
It's a great example of what we mean by moving from technology to ecosystem.
A Thought from the Source
"Touchless wellness is entering its next chapter. We have built extraordinary technologies; now we must teach them how to belong to something larger.
An ecosystem is only really an ecosystem when all elements communicate and support each other. When light, sound, breath, temperature, recovery and biological intelligence stop operating as separate interventions and begin informing one another around the human being, then we have something that is intuitive and stable.
The environment itself begins to care, quietly sensing, responding and adapting. The human is no longer asked to operate the system; the system learns how to hold the human.
That is the opportunity before the Touchless Wellness Association: not simply advancing more technology, but helping technology become beautifully, almost invisibly, whole."
Nigel Franklyn Creative Director, Touchless Wellness Association
From The Association
We're seeing a change in the questions operators are asking us too.
It's becoming less about "What's the latest technology?" and more about where it fits, who it's for, what outcome it's trying to deliver, how teams will explain it and whether it makes commercial sense.
That's a really positive sign, and it's shaping what happens next at the TWA.
Over the coming months, we're going to be a little quieter while we focus our energy on building out the next stage of our Education Hub and TWA Academy.
There's a huge amount of knowledge within this industry, but making it accessible, useful and relevant takes time. We want to build this properly, bringing together the expertise and practical education that can genuinely help people understand this growing category and use it well.
So you may hear a little less from us for a while, but there's plenty happening behind the scenes.
The TWA Technology Guide
One thing you will be hearing more about is the TWA Technology Guide.
We're developing it as a living guide to the technologies shaping touchless wellness today, helping the industry understand what's available, what different technologies do and where they might fit.
And because the category never stands still, neither will the guide. We'll continue to develop and add to it as the industry evolves.
If you're a technology provider and would like your technology to be considered for inclusion, we'd love to hear from you.
This is one of our priorities over the coming months and something we're really looking forward to sharing with the wider industry.
